ASPRO Chronology
The ASPRO chronology is a nine-period dating system of the ancient Near East used by the Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée for archaeological sites aged between 14,000 and 5,700 BP. First published in 1994, ASPRO stands for the "Atlas des sites du Proche-Orient" (Atlas of Near East archaeological sites), a French publication pioneered by Francis Hours and developed by other scholars such as Olivier Aurenche. The periods, cultures, features and date ranges of the original ASPRO chronology are shown below: In 2001, the institute revised the chronology of the first six periods based on newer carbon data and calibration curves. In Period 3 an early and late phase could be distinguished, but Periods 4 and 5 were merged. Overall they found more overlap in time between different cultural phases between different sites. See also *Ancient Near East *Neolithic The Neolithic or New Stone Age (from Ancient Greek, Greek 'new' and 'stone') is an archaeological period, ...

Aspro Convention
Aspro is a contract bridge bidding convention devised by Terence Reese as a British variant on the Astro convention to intervene over a 1NT opening bid. Like Astro, Aspro is initiated by a 2-level overcall in a minor suit when the overcaller or intervenorIn the description of competitive bidding, players are referred to as either the Opener (the first to make a ), the Intervenor (the opponent who makes his side’s first bid), the Responder (partner of the Opener) or the Advancer (partner of the Intervenor). holds an unbalanced hand with at least nine cards in two suits (i.e. 5 in one and 4 in the other), at least one of which is a major. :*2 shows hearts and another suit, and :*2 shows spades and a minor suit. Subsequent bidding The foregoing includes the possibility that the 2 overcaller holds both majors. Using Aspro with five spades and four or five hearts, the 2 bid is followed by 2 over partner's 2 or 2; with four spades and five hearts, one rebids 2 over partner's 2. ...

Aspro (fish)
''Zingel'' is a genus of fish in the family Percidae. They are long and slender, reaching in length. They are found in rivers and streams in Europe. They feed mainly on aquatic invertebrates such as crustaceans and insect larvae, and also eat small fish. While they were all classed as endangered or vulnerable in the past, environmental improvements have allowed some to be reclassified to least concern. Species The genus contains these species: *'' Zingel asper'' (Linnaeus, 1758) (Rhone streber) *'' Zingel balcanicus'' ( S. L. Karaman, 1937) (Vardar streber) *'' Zingel streber'' (Siebold, 1863) (Danube streber) *'' Zingel zingel'' (Linnaeus Carl Linnaeus (23 May 1707 – 10 January 1778), also known after ennoblement in 1761 as Carl von Linné,#Blunt, Blunt (2004), p. 171. was a Swedish biologist and physician who formalised binomial nomenclature, the modern system of naming o ..., 1766) (Zingel) References Luciopercinae Taxa named by Hippolyte Cloquet Taxo ...

Zingel Asper
''Zingel asper'', also known as the Rhone streber, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish in the family Percidae that is at a high risk of becoming extinct due to habitat destruction and pollution. It is endemic to the rivers Durance and Beaume in the Rhône basin in France and Switzerland. Diet and habitat The asper's diet consists of small insects which include flies (Diptera), mayflies ( Baetidae), and caddisflies (Hydropsychidae), and varies by season, with flies consumed primarily during the winter. ''Zingel asper'' can be found in the rivers Durance and Beaume. ''Zingel asper'' lives in habitats similar to that of the loach, '' Cobitis calderoni'', and the common minnow (''Phoxinus phoxinus''). It lurks on the stone bottoms of fast-flowing rivers in the day, coming out at night to feed on aquatic vertebrates. It reaches its full maturity after one year, and its length ranges from . Breeding takes place in the deeper parts of riffles. Spawn is deposited on gravel and ...

Asptro Convention
Asptro is a contract bridge bidding convention used to intervene over a 1NT opening bid. Its methodology and hence its designation is a combination of two similar conventions – Aspro and Astro. *2 shows at least 5-4 either way round in hearts, the ''anchor'', and a minor suit. Exceptionally the intervenor holds hearts and spades with preference for spades. *2 shows at least 5-4 either way round in spades, the anchor, and another suit. If the other suit is hearts, there is preference for hearts. *2 and 2 are natural. Partner can bid two of the anchor suit, 2M, expecting to play that contract (sign off). 2 is a non-forcing enquiry, if available, and 2NT is a forcing enquiry. Other replies are natural. Responder can also pass with 6+ length in the bid minor. (You cannot expect support from partner but it might be the least evil). After a 2 reply, the 2 intervenor passes with five diamonds or bids the 5 card suit, always the unknown one with 5-5. After a 2NT reply, t ...
